The false claim spread after a photo and ID card of Mashinu were shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the account Voice of Bangladeshi Hindus, which falsely alleged that a Marma girl had been murdered. The post also included a call for international intervention and tagged prominent figures like Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Donald Trump. Another account, Pakistan Untold, echoed the same claim, adding inflammatory language about the situation.
Rumor Scanner’s investigation revealed that Mashinu, after being identified through her ID card, was found to be alive and receiving medical treatment. Several Facebook posts confirmed this, including one from Joy Marma, who shared images of Mashinu in Chittagong Medical Hospital with a message asking for prayers for her recovery. Another post from Uching Swe Chak clarified that Mashinu was undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Bahaddarhat Flyover.
Further confirmation came from a live video posted by local media outlet CNTV CTG, where Mashinu herself explained that she had been injured in the accident while using a Pathao ride.
Mashinu’s Facebook page, “kirti marma Blog,” also features videos from her hospital bed, confirming she is alive and recovering.
The fact-checking investigation concludes that the claim of her murder is entirely false. Mashinu Marma was not attacked or killed; she is recovering from an unfortunate bike accident.
