Dhaka,  2 Feb – The government has exempted foreign doctors from paying Value Added Tax (VAT) on the fees or consultation services they provide to patients injured during the July-August uprising.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) issued a special order on Sunday regarding the matter.

According to the order, medical and health services provided by both the government and the private sector are exempt from VAT under Part II of the First Schedule of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012, which outlines services exempted from VAT.

The NBR has specifically exempted VAT on the fees paid to foreign doctors invited by the Directorate General of Health Services or relevant hospital authorities to provide medical services to those injured during the uprising.BSS
