The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Saturday joined the "March for Gaza" to protest the ongoing Israeli atrocities in Gaza and Rafah and express solidarity with the Palestinian people.
A BNP delegation, led by Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, began the march from Baitul Mukarram after Zohr prayers and later gathered at Suhrawardy Udyan, where a mass rally was scheduled.
Organised by the Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh, the rally drew thousands, even before its official start at 3:00 pm. The event began with marches from five different points across the city, converging at Suhrawardy Udyan in a unified demonstration of support.
The movement's media coordinator, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Maruf, said the rally aims to raise a collective voice against Israeli aggression and stand with the innocent civilians of Palestine.
National Mosque Khatib Muhammad Abdul Malek is set to preside over the gathering.
Earlier on Thursday, the BNP held a massive rally in Dhaka, condemning Israeli war crimes and expressing support for Palestinians. Thousands of BNP leaders and activists marched from the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters, waving national, party, and Palestinian flags, chanting slogans, and carrying placards denouncing Israeli actions.
Similar solidarity rallies were held in cities across the country the same day.
