The Bangladesh Army has strongly rejected a recent report claiming the declaration of a "military operations zone" in the Cox’s Bazar to Bandarban area, calling the report baseless and malicious.

The Army condemned the report as a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation aimed at destabilising Bangladesh’s internal unity and undermining its armed forces.

In a statement posted on Facebook on 1 June, the Army asserted, “The insinuation that the Bangladesh Army supports insurgent actors is not only baseless but malicious. Such speculative reporting, without any evidence, serves a wider agenda to sow discord and mislead the public.”

The Bangladesh Army emphasised its long-standing commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and its unwavering dedication to protecting the nation’s sovereignty, integrity, and constitutional order.

“There will be no compromise on national interest — now or ever,” the statement said.

The Army further described the report as “not journalism, but part of a sustained smear campaign,” and affirmed that Bangladesh remains united and firmly committed to defending its people and territory.
