Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has said that the true strength of a nation is rooted not only in its natural resources, but in the knowledge, skills, and creativity of its people.

He made the remarks in a message marking Public Engineering Day 2025 and the 55th founding anniversary of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB), observed on Friday.

Public Engineering Day is celebrated annually in Bangladesh on 8 November, coinciding with IDEB’s founding anniversary.

Extending greetings to all IDEB members, the Chief Adviser said this year’s theme — ‘Skilled manpower: the cornerstone of nation building’ — is timely and meaningful.

He noted that diploma engineers have long played a vital role in the country’s development, contributing significantly to infrastructure, industry, and other key sectors that support the modern economy.

As a prominent professional body, IDEB has fostered technical education, encouraged innovation, and helped build a skilled workforce essential for sustainable growth, he added.

Prof Yunus expressed confidence that through continued dedication, professionalism, and innovative work, IDEB members will remain at the forefront of national development and help realise the country’s aspirations.

He also extended best wishes for the programmes organised to observe Public Engineering Day and IDEB’s founding anniversary.
