CA expresses deep shock over earthquake casualties

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the casualties reported from house collapses and other incidents triggered by earthquake in the country on Friday morning.
So far at least five deaths, including a child, have been confirmed while nearly a hundred people, including Dhaka University students, factory workers in Gazipur, and residents of the quake’s epicenter in Narsingdi injured.
In a condolence message, the Chief Adviser prayed for the departed souls and extended sympathy to the bereaved families.
He also wished a swift recovery for the injured and directed all relevant agencies to intensify rescue efforts in affected areas, reports UNB.
Prof Yunus said the government is closely monitoring the situation and gathering detailed damage assessments, expressing hope that citizens would face the crisis with patience and courage.
