BFUJ president Ruhul Amin Ghazi is no more

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Ruhul Amin Ghazi has passed away (innalillahi wayna ilahi rajioun).

Doctors declared him dead on Tuesday (September 24) at 9 pm. BNP health secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam confirmed the information.

Ruhul Amin has been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in the capital since Monday.

Ruhul Amin Gazi was suffering from kidney related complications. During the Awami government's long imprisonment, various physical complications were created. He was suffering from various diseases including back pain, high diabetes, sodium deficiency (electrolyte) imbalance.

It was decided to take Ruhul Amin Ghazi to Thailand for treatment on September 22 at 3:30 pm. However, due to the deterioration of the physical condition, it was not possible to take him there as per the advice of the doctor. After his return from the airport, he was again admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka.

A journalist working at the daily Sangram, Ruhul Amin Gazi has been, President of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), Secretary General of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists. He was also president of the Dhaka Journalists Housing Cooperative Society. GreenWatch News Desk
