August 8, 2025 - The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) joined 15 other media and human rights organizations in a joint letter demanding an end to the forced starvation and targeted killing of journalists in Gaza by Israel.

The letter calls on governments, international organizations, the media, and civil society to ensure access for food and medical supplies; end the blockade on foreign press; hold to account those responsible for the starvation and killing of journalists; and protect journalists in conflict zones.

“If the international community fails to act, the death of these journalists will not only be a moral catastrophe, but it will also be the death of truth itself in Gaza,” the authors wrote. “Our inaction will be recorded in history as a monumental failure to protect our fellow journalists and a betrayal of the principles that every journalist strives to uphold.”
