Jabbar Boli Khela was concluded in Chattagram on Saturday 25 April 2025.

Chattogram, April 25, 2026 The 117th edition of Jabbar-er Boli Khela concluded today at Chattogram's Laldighi Maidan, where Bagha Sharif from Cumilla emerged as the champion among 108 participants. Country’s leading digital operator, Banglalink, supported the festivities as the title sponsor for the 12th year, further solidifying its dedication to upholding local heritage.

The competition drew a significant crowd to witness the port city’s most celebrated traditional wrestling event. Bagha Sharif secured the championship after defeating Rashed Boli from Cumilla in the final round. The winner was awarded Tk 30,000, while the runner-up received Tk 20,000.

Inaugurated by CMP Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, the event featured Chattogram City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain as the chief guest and Abu Sufian, MP, as a special guest. Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, "Jabbar-er Boli Khela is more than a sporting event; it is a testament to our identity and a living piece of history that has survived for over a century."

The tournament, hosted by the Boli Foundation with support from Banglalink and other partners, featured a diverse lineup of Bolis (wrestlers) from across the country's rural heartlands. Through this long-standing association, Banglalink aims to highlight its brand essence of “Care,” a commitment that extends beyond customer service to include the preservation and promotion of Bangladesh’s national and regional culture.

Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury, Cluster Deputy Director at Banglalink, noted that the 12-year partnership reflects a commitment to bringing greater visibility to traditional sports and engaging communities beyond urban centers. "By supporting these iconic traditions, Banglalink aims to bridge the gap between our rich history and a digital future," he stated.

To reach a wider audience and connect diverse viewers, the historic event was livestreamed nationwide on the digital platform Toffee for the first time this year, showcasing its enduring cultural legacy.

Originally introduced in 1909 by local merchant Abdul Jabbar Sawdagor to inspire and organize the youth, the competition has evolved over the last century into a major public festival. Held annually during the first month of the Bangla year, it remains a vital part of Chattogram’s cultural heritage, consistently attracting top wrestlers and spectators from across the country.

As the 117th edition draws to a close, Jabbar-er Boli Khela continues to stand as a symbol of community resilience and cultural continuity, supported by Banglalink’s vision of upholding local traditions through meaningful engagement.
