Dhaka, 18 Dec - The selection committee of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) today trimmed the hockey squad to 25 for the Men's Junior AHF Cup (U-21) Hockey tournament scheduled to be held from January 6-12 next year in Muscat, the port capital of Oman.
The selected players have been asked to report to team's manager Haji Mohammad Humayun with a passport, COVID-19 certificate and photo on Tuesday (Dec 20) at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.
Talking to BSS Sunday BHF's acting general secretary Mohammad Yousuf said the selection committee today arranged a trial with the participation of thirty-eight players and finally twenty-five players have been picked up for the camp.
He said the selection committee will trim the final squad to eighteen later stage.
Earlier, the BHF picked up a preliminary selected 26-member squad for the camp ahead of the tournament.
The selection committee of BHF also nominated ANM Mamunur Rashid as head coach Hedayatul Islam Rajib as an assistant coach and Haji Mohammad Humayun as the team's manager for Oman bound hockey team.
25-member squad:
Goalkeepers - Nuruzzaman Noyan, Saifuddin and Al Amin.
Defender- Amirul Islam, Hujaifa Hossain, Ramim Hossain, AM Mehrab Hasan Shamim, Asaduzzaman Chand, Aman Sharif, Sabedur Rahman Mithu, Azizar Rahman and Rahid Hasan Jibon.
Midfielders - Prince Lal Shimanto, Abed Uddin, Sohidur Rahman Saju, Tanvir Rahman Siyam, Tayeb Ali and Shimul Islam.
Forwards- Rofiqul Islam Rocky, Obaidul Haque Joy, Debasish Kumar Roy, Tasin Ali, Zahid Hossain, Abdullah and Dwin Islam.
