Athletics team leaves for Iran tomorrow

Dhaka, Feb -A seven-member Bangladesh athletics team will leave  here for Iran Thursday morning to participate in the 11th Asian 

Indoor Athletics Championship scheduled to be held from February 17-19 in 
Tehran.

The seven-member athletics team included five athletes and two team 
officials.

Bangladesh Athletics Federation's general secretary advocate Abdur Rakib 
(Montu) will accompany the team as the team leader cum Asian meeting delegate 
while Jamal Hussain as official.

Besides, five athletes Imranur Rahman - (60m sprint), Rakibul Hasan (60m 
sprint) Mohammad Zahir Raihan (400m sprint), Mahfuzur Rahman(high jump) and 
Shireen Aktar (60m sprint) will participate in the championship. 

Country's fastest sprinter Imranur Rahman hoped to retain his gold in Asian 
Indoor and raise the flag of Bangladesh on the Asian stage. Other athletes, 
participating in this team, also hoped to bring success for the country.

Imranur participated in 60m event in the 10th Asian Indoor Athletics 
Championship held in Astana, Kazakhstan last year. He won gold by creating 
the history for Bangladesh in the prestigious event.
