BGB, Ansar women's kabaddi teams reach semifinals
Dhaka, 20 Dec - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) women's kabaddi team reached semifinals of the Victory Day Kabaddi Competition eliminating Joypurhat district women's team by 54-10 points in the Victory Day Kabaddi competition held at Shaheed (Captain) M Mansoor Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital on Friday.
The winners' led the first half by 26-5 points.
With BGB's win on the day, Bangladesh Ansar's spot has also been confirmed from group B.
Earlier, on Thursday, Ansar defeated Joypurhat district women's team by 62-12 points in their group opening match.
Joypurhat district women's team has been eliminated from the group stage following their two defeats.
BGB and Ansar will now play their last group match Saturday to decide the group top at the same venue.
On the other hand, Narail district women's team kept their semifinal hope alive from group A beating Faridpur district women's team by 59-19 points after leading the first half by 17-0 points.
Sraboni Khatun of the winning team was named the player of the match for her impressive performance.
