Bangladesh reach semifinal in Women's Kabaddi World Cup

Bangladesh reach semifinal of the 2nd Women's World Cup beating Thailand by 40-31 points held at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium at Mirpur today.


The winners stretched the first period of play as they took a narrow 14-12 points lead at the breather. 

Bangladesh will now play the semifinal match against Chinese Taipei, the runners-up of Group A.

Iran will face defending champions India in the other semifinal on the same day. The semifinals will be held tomorrow (Sunday) at the same venue. 

With this victory against Thailand, Bangladesh also confirmed a medal in the ongoing World Cup.

Bangladeshi players and officials have been expressing their expectations of a medal since the start of the ongoing tournament. There was jubilation in the red-green camp after securing a semi-final and a medal with a win over Thailand after a fierce competition. 

The team's players and coaching staff responded to the cheers of the spectators in the gallery of Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium by waving red-green flags.

Raider Brishti Biwas of Bangladesh was named the player of the match for his impressive performance, reports BSS.
