The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a total of 75 people in separate anti-crime operations across the capital.

The arrests included the capture of a snatcher by traffic police in Jatrabari, the busting of a gambling den in Banshal, and routine drives by the Tejgaon Division, according to the DMP.

Traffic police in Jatrabari arrested an alleged snatcher, Md. Hridoy, 28, after he allegedly attempted to rob a rickshaw passenger near the Jatrabari-2 signal on Tuesday night.

Two on-duty traffic sergeants, assisted by local residents, caught him red-handed and recovered a knife and a tablet.

He was later handed over to Jatrabari Police Station.

In another operation, Banshal Police arrested 17 people, including 15 on charges of gambling with playing cards during a raid on a house early Wednesday.

A mobile court sentenced the 15 gamblers to two months' imprisonment each.

Police also seized three packs of playing cards, Tk 24,850 in cash, two old bed sheets allegedly used for gambling, and two packets of cannabis.

Meanwhile, the DMP's Tejgaon Division arrested 57 people in separate raids across crime-prone areas over the past 24 hours.

The arrestees were held from Tejgaon, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Mohammadpur, Adabar, Tejgaon Industrial Area and Hatirjheel police station jurisdictions, reports BSS.
