She was handed over to PBI officials at around 10:30 am on Sunday (September 25).
Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Daulatpur police station, confirmed the news.
On the night of Saturday (September 24), Rahima Begum, who had been said to be missing by her family and presumed dead, was found alive at Syedpur village under Boalmari upazila of Faridpur after 29 days.
“Rahima Begum was rescued alive from Syedpur village of Boalmari upazila around 11 pm on Saturday (September 24). She was taken to Daulatpur Police Station in Khulna around 2:30 am,” said Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Deputy Commissioner (North) Molla Jahangir Hossain.
On August 27, Rahima Begum went to collect water from the tube well of her house in Maheshwarpasha’s Uttar Banikpara area of Daulatpur upazila in Khulna around 10:30 pm. Since then she had been missing.
That night, her family members filed a general diary at Daulatpur Police Station after being failed to find her at all the possible places. Later, the victim’s daughter Adri Akhter filed a case with the police station accusing some people.
On September 14, a court ordered to transfer the case to PBI. The PBI then accepted the documents on September 17, following due process. PBI Inspector Abdul Mannan was given the charge to investigate the case.
On September 23, three daughters of Rahima Begum, including Mariam, claimed that the body of a woman which was recovered 12 days ago in Mymensingh was their mother’s.
However, the police informed Mariam that it is not possible to confirm the identity of the body without a DNA test.
Police have so far arrested six people in connection with the case.
