27 Killed in Minibus-Truck Collision in Zimbabwe

At least 27 people were killed when a minibus taxi collided head-on with a goods truck in Zimbabwe on Friday night, police said on Saturday.

All those killed were members of a local church who were travelling to attend a conference, according to police spokesperson Paul Nyathi.

The group, known for wearing white clothing, was travelling in the minibus when it collided with a truck on a major highway near Chivhu, about 132 kilometres south of the capital Harare.

The truck was reportedly attempting to overtake another vehicle when the collision occurred.

State broadcaster ZBC News reported, citing a provincial minister, that 23 people died at the scene. Several others later died after being taken to hospital.
