Lawyer’s assistant allegedly dies in DB custody in Bogura

DB police sources said a team of the Detective Branch of police picked up Habibur Rahman and took him to Shahjahanpur police station.



A lawyers' assistant allegedly died in police custody in Bogura on Tuesday night (October 3).
The deceased was known as Habibur Rahman Habib, 40, son of Abdul Kuddus in Bogura's Shahjahanpur upazila, was the joint secretary of the Bogura Advocates' Assistant Association.
DB police sources said a team of the Detective Branch of police picked up Habibur Rahman and took him to Shahjahanpur police station. Meanwhile, he felt chest pain. Later he was admitted to Bogura Mohammad Ali Hospital around 7:00 pm where he died under treatment.
Bogura district lawyer association general secretary Iqbal Hossain claimed that detectives picked up Habibur based on suspicion and tortured him to death.
Doctor Atiqur Rahman, Medical Officer of the Emergency Department of Bogura Govt Mohammad Ali Hospital, said that the victim was brought to the hospital in an emergency. I was told about his chest pain. I gave oxygen support. He was then sent to the ward. After some time the patient died.
