19 Jamaat leaders, activists held in Kurigram

Kurigram, Oct 8 – Police arrested 19  leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different parts of Sadar and Ulipur upazilas of Kurigram district on Sunday. 

President of Jamaat Sramik Kalyan Federation and former president of Kurigram District Ainjibi Samity Advocate Yeasin Ali Sarkar, was among the arrestees. 

Masudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said police arrested nine leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami in the morning. 

Besides, police also arrested 10 leaders and activists of the party from Ulipur upazila, said Golam Martuza, officer-in-charge of Ulipur Police Station. 

Meanwhile, the district unit Jamaat-e-Islami said the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami gathered in Jatiner Haat in Sadar upazila to bring out a procession demanding caretaker government and withdrawal of ‘false’ cases and immediate release of its leaders from jail in the morning. - UNB
