Members of Coast Guards in a drive arrested five suspected deer poachers along with 25 kg venison from a boat in the Shibsa River of the Sundarbans in Khulna district on Wednesday night.

The arrestees were Imran Gazi, 24, Abdur Rahim, 43, Rokon-Uz-Zaman, 35, Abu Musa, 36 and Md Mamun, 35 of Koyra upazila in Khulna district.

Coast Guard members conducted a drive in the river and arrested the poachers on Wednesday night, said a media release of Coast Guard.

They also seized 25 kgs of venison, one boat, 80 deer poaching traps from their possession.

Legal steps will be taken against them, it said. - UNB
