China's government on Thursday called for renewed "dialogue" with the United States, urging a peaceful resolution to the growing trade disputes that have seen both nations impose a series of tariffs on each other's goods in recent weeks.

He Yongqian, spokeswoman for China's Ministry of Commerce, emphasized the need for cooperation, stating, "We hope the United States and China will work together to return to the path of resolving differences through constructive dialogue and consultation." She made the comments during a regular weekly briefing, highlighting China's desire to de-escalate the economic friction between the two largest global economies.
