3 alleged human traffickers held, one says trapped 1000 women

Dhaka, June 2 :  Police  held three alleged human traffickers from Satkhira border on Wednesday, a day after a case was filed by a victim on return from India.
The trafficking case was filed on Tuesday with Hatirjheel Police Station in the capital city, Md Shahidullah, deputy commissioner of Tejgaon Division Police told reporters.
He identified the arrestees as Mehedi Hasan Babu, Mohiuddin and Abdul Quader.
The DC said that during primary investigation Mehedi has confessed to trafficking over 1,000 women to India over the years.
Police are searching for the remaining two.
Bangladesh law enforcers launched a crackdown against human traffickers  after the emergence of a video in social media showing a Bangladeshi woman being raped by compatriots in India.
Earlier on May 27, police in India’s Bengaluru arrested five Bangladeshis - four men and a woman  for allegedly raping and torturing a Bangladeshi woman.
Rifadul ul Islam alias TikTok Hridoy of Moghbazar area, was one of those arrested in India, reports UNB.
