The government has suspended Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner Nazmul Karim Khan, two months after he was withdrawn from his post.

The Home Affairs Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Monday.

According to the notification, Nazmul Karim Khan has been suspended from government service in the public interest under the provision of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules.

During his suspension, he will remain attached to the Ministry of Home Affairs and receive subsistence allowance as per government regulations, it said.

In August this year, a report was published in a national daily alleging that the GMP Commissioner used to block roads during his commute to and from the office that sparked widespread criticism.

A show-cause notice was served in connection with the matter.

On September 1, Nazmul Karim Khan was withdrawn from his post, reports UNB.
