Those who betray the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia will not be forgiven. The upcoming local government elections will be a test for you. If anyone opposes the party candidate, he will face expulsion from the party for life, he said.
The minister was speaking at a discussion meeting held at the Bagerhat Zilla Parishad Auditorium this afternoon. District BNP Convener Engineer ATM Akram Hossain Talim chaired the meeting.
Recalling prominent BNP leaders of the past, Asaduzzaman said no one had ever benefited betraying the party or its ideology.
Referring to former BNP leader Barrister Shahjahan Omar of Jhalakathi, he said those who leave the party or go against its principles ultimately gain nothing.
He urged party leaders and activists to work collectively to ensure the victory of BNP candidates instead of opposing them in the local government elections.
The minister said many of those present at the meeting were qualified to become members of parliament, mayors, upazila chairmen and union parishad chairmen. However, only one candidate can be nominated for each post.
"Only those who can bring victory for the party will be nominated," he said.
The meeting was moderated by Bagerhat District Council Administrator Barrister Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain.
BNP National Executive Committee member and newly elected Bagerhat Bar Association President Advocate Sheikh Wahiduzzaman Dipu, among others, attended the meeting, reports BSS.
