BNP’s central leader Nipun gets 3-month anticipatory bail

The High Court has granted three-month anticipatory bail to BNP’s central executive committee member Nipun Roy Chowdhury in a case filed over a clash with Awami League in Dhaka’s Keraniganj.



The High Court has granted three-month anticipatory bail to BNP’s central executive committee member Nipun Roy Chowdhury in a case filed over a clash with Awami League in Dhaka’s Keraniganj.

An HC bench of Justice Md Habibul Gani and Justice Ahmed Sohel passed the order on Monday (May 29) in presence of Nipun who was appeared in the court from hospital. She was seen sitting in a wheel chair.

Senior lawyer Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Barrister Badruddoja Badol and Mithun Roy Chowdhury stood for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Omit Talukder represented the state in the court.

On Friday (May 26), supporters of Awami League and BNP locked into a clash in Keraniganj during BNP’s rally. At least 50 people of both the parties including Nipun were injured. She needs six stitches on her head.

Later, SM Sumon, a local AL activist, filed the case with Keraniganj Model Police Station on May 27.
