Dhaka, Nov 8 -Saying that Trinamool BNP will take part in the next 12th national election, its chairperson Shamser Mobin Chowdhury hoped that his party would field candidates in 300 parliamentary seats.
"We will participate in the upcoming national parliament elections, and we are trying to field candidates in all 300 seats.We are preparing for the election with that goal in mind," Chowdhury, also a former foreign secretary, said.
Chowdhury, a former advisor to the BNP chairperson, came up with the comment while addressing a discussion event at the National Press Club on Wednesday.
He said that the Trinamool BNP will not behave like a private company, rather it will be governed according to the party's rules and policies. "Trinamool BNP will be Trinamool Congress of Bangladesh," he said.
He said that they do not believe in the politics of arson and violence.
"We believe in fair politics. We do not support the politics of killing and violence. Fair politics will be the basis of good governance," he said.
He hoped that the Election Commission would exercise its power.
Trinamool BNP's General Secretary Advocate Timur Alam Khandkar referred to the ongoing blockade programme of the BNP, saying that he was involved with BNP politics and he believes that everyone is not involved in terrorism.
"It is not right to blame everyone for this. Action should be taken against those involved," he said.
Regarding the politics of Trinamool BNP, he said that the politics of Trinamool BNP will be like this - the centre will go to grassroot level. "The welfare of the people will be the main goal of our politics," he said.
Senior vice chairperson Major (Retd.) Dr. Sheikh Habibur Rahman and some other leaders who have recently joined the Trinamool BNP spoke at the programme.
