Election manifesto committee members said that following the implementation of Digital Bangladesh, the manifesto for the upcoming election is prepared with the goal of building a Smart Bangladesh.
The manifesto focuses on special measures for corruption prevention, commodity price control, and good governance in the financial sector.
Election manifesto committee coordinator and Awami League's presidium member Dr Abdur Razzaque said:
“The Awami League's manifesto is more than just a party manifesto, it is a manifesto for the entire nation. What the people expect from the Awami League in the upcoming election is of utmost importance.”
Awami League has always fulfilled the commitments made in its previous election manifestos, he added.
This election's manifesto will be smart and people-oriented like previous ones. Through Smart Bangladesh, the manifesto aims to bring modern technology to the people and create employment through visible development, focusing particularly on employment for the youth.
The goal of Smart Bangladesh is to accelerate industrialization by establishing industries and attracting domestic and foreign investments, thus creating jobs and increasing income.
Election manifesto committee secretary and Awami League Information and Research Secretary Dr Selim Mahmud said: “The committee's work for the 12th national parliament election is complete. The main theme of this year's manifesto is the construction of Smart Bangladesh, focusing on attracting young voters.”
Additionally, the manifesto emphasizes agriculture, services, economic, and industrial production sectors. It also includes ensuring fundamental rights for the third gender. The manifesto covers the prime minister's goal of transforming Bangladesh into a developed country by 2041.
The slogan of the Awami League's election manifesto in 2008 was Din Badaler Sanad (Change of Day). The 11th national parliamentary election in 2018 had the slogan Swamridhhir Agrajatray Bangladesh (Bangladesh in the progress of prosperity).
The 25-member manifesto-making committee started its work on September 28 with Awami League presidium member Abdur Razzaque as its convener. The final manifesto has been prepared under the direction of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina from the draft prepared by the committee.
