Dhaka, Jan 06 - Unidentified miscreants allegedly set fire to two vehicles and a primary school in Mymensingh and Chattogram this evening amid the countrywide 48-hour hartal called by the opposition BNP and like-minded opposition parties to boycott the January 7 election.

A parked bus was set on fire near Kalurghat BSCIC Industrial area of Chattogram at 6:30pm, said Talha Bin Jashim, station officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence's media cell.

On information, two firefighting units from Kalurghat fire station rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.

Around 6:40pm, a private car was torched at Natun Bazar area of Mymensingh sadar upazila.

Two fire engines from Mymensingh station reached the spot at 6:45pm and doused the blaze, he said.

Meanwhile, arsonists set fire to the Montola primary school in Muktagacha upazila of Mymensingh District around 6:55pm.

Being informed, two firefighting units from Muktagacha station rushed to the spot and put out the blaze.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the fire incidents, added the fire officer. - UNB
