Rajbari, Jan 06  — A village police officer on duty at a polling center was found dead in Rajbari’s Baliakandi upazila early on Saturday.

The deceased, Ranjit Kumar Dey, was stationed at Char Arkandi Government Primary School with its night guard, Mohammad Yusuf.

Quoting Yusuf, police said that Ranjit left the school premises to use the bathroom around 3:30 am. As he didn’t return for a while, night guard Yusuf looked for him and notified the headmaster of the school about the situation.

Later, his body was found in a bush beside the school’s bathroom around 5 am.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baliakandi Police Station, Alamgir Hossain, said they are primarily suspecting that he was suffocated to death.

His body was sent to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. - UNB
