Opposition leaders vow to establish democracy on solid footing

Reunion marking 20th anniversary of Biplabi Workers Party held

Opposition political leaders on Friday vowed to fight for the establishment of democracy in the country and safeguard independence and sovereignty as they welcomed the leaders of the Biplabi Workers’ Party.

They were addressing a reunion held at the party's solidarity auditorium in Segunbagicha marking the 20th founding anniversary of the party, in the afternoon. It was attended by the top leaders of the opposition parties, prominent people of the society and people of all strata and professions. Saiful Huq, general secretary of the party was felicitated with flowers by leaders of different parties.

Welcoming the guests, Saiful Huq thanked everyone for giving moral support to the party's movement and struggle for the last two decades. He expressed optimism that politicians and civil society will play a united role to ensure the democratic future of the country and the nation. He expressed the resolve the establish democracy on a solid foundation so that none can play foul with the system and frustrate the hopes and aspirations of the people

The role of the Revolutionary Workers Party in movement and struggle of the last two decades came up for discussion at the function. The party’s efficient functioning through proper conceptualization of events and things and presentation of the same to the people was lauded. It was hoped that the party will play an important role in achieving people's rights and freedom in the coming days as well.
