Murder case against AL leaders of Kalapara
Patuakhali: A case has been filed against former State Minister for Water Resources Md. Mahbubur Rahman, former upazila parishad chairman SM Rakibul Ahsan, former mayor Bipul Chandra Howladar, including 41 leaders and workers of Awami League and allied organizations over charge of JCD leader murder and looting. On Sunday (September 8), Kalapara Senior Judicial Magistrate Ashish Roy's court took cognizance of the allegations against the accused and directed the OC, Kalapara to take the case as FIR. Plaintiff's appointed lawyer Advocate Khandkar Shahab Uddin and the court's bench assistant Md. Qayum confirmed the authenticity of the order.
14 years ago in the death of the Chhatra Dal leader Ziaur Rahman, his brother Upazila Jubodal Dal joint convener Md. Saifur Rahman filed the case in the Kalapara Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Sunday afternoon as the plaintiff. Another 20/25 unidentified accused have been named in the case.
It is said in the details of the case, the defendants on 24 October 2010 AD to stop the anti-Hasina movement. In a planned manner, the plaintiff's brother Patuakhali District Chhatra Dal Leader victim Ziaur Rahman brutally hacked and injured him to kill. After the assassination plan at the then Upazila Awami League President Mahbub's residence, Mahbub and his party's general secretary Rakibul financed the killing mission of the accused. In this, the defendants armed with sharp weapons and created terror in the residence of the plaintiff on a motorcycle, took the victim Zia hostage at gunpoint and brought her to Pakhimara market. On the instructions of the influential accused no. 1-4, the accused cut the hands, legs, chest and back of the victim Zia with severe cuts and broke the bones of the body and left her dead on the street. Thereafter, the accused looted 17 cows, estimated value of taka10 lakh and 16 goats, estimated value of taka1 lakh, from the plaintiff's house. After the incident, the victim was rescued and taken to the hospital. The doctor on duty referred him to Dhaka for better treatment. After receiving long treatment for the said inhuman torture, the victim died at home. When the Kalapara Police Station was requested to conduct an autopsy on the victim's body, the police came under the influence of accused no. 1 Mahbub and applied pressure to bury the victim's body quickly. The police and the court did not take the plaintiff's case. It is mentioned in the case that after the overthrow of the Hasina government in the students' uprising, the plaintiff filed a case in the court seeking justice for the murder and looting of his brother as there was a neutral government in the country.
