On Saturday, the interim government commenced a new round of dialogue with major political parties, seeking their input on six reform commissions currently in progress.

Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus and several advisers met with a six-member delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. The discussions began at 2:30 PM at the Chief Adviser’s official residence, the state guesthouse Jamuna, and are expected to continue until 8 PM, according to political sources.

The BNP delegation also included prominent standing committee members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Dr. Abdul Moeen Khan, and Salahuddin Ahmed. Their focus will be on the government’s proposed roadmap for state reforms and the upcoming elections.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam stated at a briefing that the dialogue aims to update political parties on the progress of the reform commissions, discuss the current law and order situation, and gather their suggestions. This dialogue is part of an ongoing effort to foster collaboration and address pressing political issues.

In previous meetings, the Advisory Council, led by Prof. Yunus, has engaged in two rounds of discussions with various political parties since the interim government’s formation on August 8. The BNP, in preparation for these talks, established six committees to evaluate its stance on the interim government's reform initiatives.

The six reform commissions are as follows:

1.Electoral System Reform Commission, headed by Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar
2. Police Administration Reform Commission, led by Sarfaraz Hossain

3. Judiciary Reform Commission, chaired by Justice Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman
4. Anti-Corruption Reform Commission, directed by Dr. Iftekharuzzaman from Transparency International Bangladesh

5. Public Administration Reform Commission, overseen by Abdul Mueed Chowdhury
6. Constitution Reform Commission, led by Prof. Ali Riaz from Illinois State University

In addition to the BNP, representatives from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) are also expected to participate in today’s discussions, signaling a broader engagement with various political entities.
