The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Mohammad Faruk Khan, former minister of civil aviation and tourism, during an operation at his residence in the cantonment area around 1 AM on Tuesday, October 15.

Following his arrest, the RAB transferred Khan to the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick confirmed the development, stating that the arrest is linked to multiple murder cases filed against Khan in various police stations.
Faruk Khan served as a minister from 2011 to 2013 and again briefly from January to August 2024. He was also the minister of commerce from 2009 to 2011 and represented the Gopalganj-1 constituency in Parliament from 1996 until 2024.
Before entering politics, Khan had a distinguished military career, retiring as a lieutenant colonel from the Bangladesh Army after 24 years of service from 1971 to 1995. His arrest has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, raising questions about the implications for his political legacy.
