In a powerful message on Monday, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman emphasized the importance of employment in fostering national unity and highlighted that only an accountable government and a fully functional parliament can protect the political power of the people.

“We must harness the strength of unity to build a Bangladesh free from discrimination and division,” Rahman stated on his verified Facebook page. “It is crucial to understand that without empowering the people, national unity cannot be both strong and sustainable.”

Tarique underscored the vital role of a parliament composed of elected representatives, tasked with reflecting the will of the people through a public mandate, in upholding democratic principles within the state and society.

“The political power of the people is truly secured when an accountable government and a functioning parliament work in unison,” he asserted.

Acknowledging the necessity of reform, Tarique called for substantial changes in both the state and political systems. “The people deserve to know the practical roadmap of an interim government, outlining its goals and the timeline required to achieve them,” he added.

In his message, he emphasized the need for a democratic political culture, not just in theory but in daily practice, to protect the state and government from the resurgence of autocracy and fascism.

“This Victory Day, celebrated in an environment free from fascism, holds more joy, glory, and significance than ever before,” Tarique said. “I firmly believe that every future Independence and Victory Day in Bangladesh will be a testament to the state’s and government’s commitment to its people.”
