“We promise to repay the bloodshed of the youth by ensuring fair elections, InshAllah... though it is a huge responsibility,” Sanaullah said during a meeting with data collectors, supervisors, and new voters for the voter list update program in Panchagarh on Monday.
He explained that the Election Commission would lead and coordinate efforts, but the real work would be carried out on the ground by local officials, starting from the 'chowkidar' to every community member involved in the process. “We have no favorites, no side, only one side: fairness, justice, and fulfilling the people’s rights,” he emphasized.
Sanaullah reassured attendees that the power to choose representatives lies solely with the people, not within the offices of the Election Commission, Deputy Commissioner, or any intelligence agency. He acknowledged that public trust in the voting system had eroded, and stressed the importance of creating awareness to restore confidence in the electoral process.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Md Sabet Ali, Superintendent of Police Md Mizanur Rahman Munshi, District Election Officer Md Enamul Haque, and other officials.
