On Saturday, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman expressed his firm belief that every girl and woman in Bangladesh deserves empowerment, support, and equal opportunities in society.

In a heartfelt post shared on his verified Facebook account in honor of International Women’s Day, Tarique stated, “Young girls and women across Bangladesh deserve to feel empowered and supported by those around them. Every woman must have the same dignity, security, and opportunities as any man.”

Highlighting the significance of strong women in his own life, Tarique shared that the three most influential individuals to him are his mother, wife, and daughter—three exceptional women who have shaped his values.

He included photographs of his mother and former Prime Minister, Khaleda Zia, his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and his daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman, emphasizing the pivotal roles they play in his life.

“I have always wished for them to have every opportunity, success, and happiness,” Tarique wrote. “I am certain that many of you reading this share the same sentiments.”

In his message for International Women’s Day, Tarique Rahman reaffirmed his commitment to gender equality. “Just as in the past, when BNP governments led by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia worked to build a fair, tolerant, and respectful society, we must continue to create an environment free from discrimination based on gender, race, or religion.”

He further emphasized the need for equal opportunities for all daughters in Bangladesh. “Our daughters should have the same rights as our sons—they must be able to step outside their homes, use the internet, and voice their opinions without fear of harassment.”

Tarique also highlighted BNP’s dedication to advancing women’s roles in society. “Our party’s policy reflects our commitment to unleashing the untapped potential of women in a safe, supportive society. Initiatives such as the ‘family card’ program, SME loans for women entrepreneurs, and education schemes for young girls are central to our mission.”

In closing, he called for a collective effort to champion women’s empowerment in every sphere. “Together, let’s continue to promote women’s economic independence, political participation, and the pursuit of their personal goals,” he concluded.
