The National Independent Investigation Commission investigating the 2009 BDR carnage has issued a public notice calling on 15 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to testify in its ongoing inquiry.

In a special notice released today, the Commission emphasized the need to complete the process of collecting testimonies by March 31 of this year, citing time constraints. The Commission's call is part of an effort to uncover the full details surrounding the tragic events of the BDR massacre.

In addition to Sheikh Hasina, the notice includes a list of prominent individuals who are expected to testify. These include former army chiefs General Moeen U Ahmed and Aziz Ahmed, Major General (Retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former security adviser to the prime minister, Fazle Noor Taposh, former mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, and several former members of parliament, including Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mirza Azam, and AFM Bahauddin Nasim. Other witnesses include Brigadier General (Retd) Muhammad Shamsul Alam, Lieutenant General (Retd) Molla Fazle Akbar, and senior law enforcement officials such as Hasan Mahmud Khandaker, Abdul Kahar Akond, Nur Mohammad, and Monirul Islam.

The Commission has asked the witnesses to notify them in writing of their availability within seven days of the notice’s publication, either by phone, email, or letter. Additionally, online testimony via video conference will be facilitated for those unable to attend in person.

The Commission’s investigation aims to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the BDR mutiny and massacre, which remains a critical chapter in the nation's history.
