13 Political Parties Submit Reform Opinions
Thirteen political parties have submitted their opinions on reform recommendations to the National Consensus Commission, though major parties, including BNP and Jamaat, have yet to provide theirs.
The commission revealed the names of the 13 parties on Monday, which include the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Khelafat Majlish, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, Zaker Party, Bhasani Onusari Parishad, Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM), Amjanatar Dal, Rashtra Sanskar Andolon, Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Bangladesh Jasad, Bangladesh Labour Party, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), and Nagorik Oikya.
Amar Bangladesh Party and Nagorik Oikya submitted their opinions on Monday, according to a press release.
Meanwhile, 16 additional parties have requested a few more days to finalize their opinions. The commission is actively following up with the remaining nine parties.
Launched on February 15, 2025, the commission, led by Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus, is reviewing key recommendations from five reform commissions—focused on constitutional, public administration, electoral system, judiciary, and anti-corruption reforms—to gather input from political parties. The commission had sent a spreadsheet containing the reform proposals to 38 political parties, with a deadline of March 13 for responses.
