Speaking at an Iftar party hosted by the BNP at Dhaka Ladies Club, Nahid stated, "On August 5, 2024, the people of Bangladesh defeated the forces of Mujibbad and ousted the fascist Awami League. There should be no room for Mujibbadi politics in future Bangladesh elections."
He also emphasized that, with a trial process currently underway, the return of the Awami League to the political scene should not be a matter of discussion until the trial is concluded.
Nahid further stressed the need for an inclusive election, asserting that several political parties are capable of representing the will of the people. "We carry the spirit of the struggle and the mass uprising against Mujibbad," he said, expressing hope for greater political unity in the current climate.
During the event, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and leaders from various political parties also spoke, underscoring the importance of reforms for free and fair elections.
Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, echoed the call for national unity, outlining four key points: the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh, a sustainable democracy, fair elections, and a corruption-free nation. He concluded, "National unity is essential for building a prosperous and beautiful future for Bangladesh."
