In an apparent response to recent remarks by deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam stated that Allah has kept her alive for a purpose—to face what he termed "the trial of the century."

"Yes, Allah has kept her alive for a reason: to face the trial of the century," Alam declared, sharing his statement in a post on his verified Facebook account early Wednesday, shortly after midnight. The post followed Hasina's comments in which she expressed belief that Allah had preserved her life for a significant cause, hinting at justice for those who have been victims of political persecution.

Alam elaborated, stating that during the recent BIMSTEC Summit, Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus had conveyed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi the urgent need for Hasina's extradition back to Bangladesh. "This is the highest priority for the interim government," Alam affirmed, emphasizing that the pursuit of justice for the atrocities committed under Hasina's rule is crucial.

The Awami League president, who fled to India on August 5 of the previous year amid widespread protests, made her remarks during a social media interaction with the families of her party's leaders. In her statement, she asserted, "Allah kept me alive for a reason," and hinted that "the day will come" when those who targeted Awami League members would be held accountable.

Alam, however, took a more critical tone, claiming that Hasina must answer for the deaths of over 1,400 individuals—13% of whom were children. "She will face trials for ordering the massacres and for hiding the bodies of protesters," he said. He also referred to an alleged revelation made by Awami League activists to the UN Fact-Finding Mission regarding these events.

Further detailing the alleged crimes, Alam listed other charges, including "3,500 forced disappearances, 3,000 extrajudicial killings, and the wrongful imprisonment of nearly six million opposition leaders and activists." He also pointed to the deadly incidents at Shapla Square and the aftermath of the war crimes trial verdict against Maolana Sayedee as additional grounds for her trial.

Alam did not shy away from accusing Hasina of massive corruption, claiming she was responsible for the "plunder of the century," amounting to an alleged theft of $234 billion during her nearly 16 years in power.

"Our national dignity and self-respect are intertwined with our pursuit to bring her back to Bangladesh and ensure she faces justice," he stated passionately. "For generations, Latin American nations have fought similar battles for dignity. If they succeeded in holding brutal dictators accountable, so can we. One generation may fail, but the torch will be passed on to the next. Our fight for justice and dignity will be relentless."

Concluding his remarks, Alam quoted divine names, affirming that "Allah, the Al Hakam and the Al Adl—the ultimate deliverer of justice—has kept Hasina alive for the sole purpose of facing justice. The 'butcher of Bengal' must stand trial for her crimes against humanity."

As the political climate continues to heat up, this development marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing struggle for justice and accountability in Bangladesh.
