The National Consensus Commission resumed its second-round discussions with political parties on Sunday, marking the 15th day of ongoing reform talks focused on major constitutional issues.

The session began at 11:20 AM at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, with Commission Vice Chair Prof. Ali Riaz presiding over the dialogue.

Key topics on the agenda include the proposed reintroduction of a caretaker government system and the constitutional validity of a prime minister holding multiple posts.

Around 30 political parties are participating in the dialogue, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party (NCP). Each party is presenting its stance on the draft reform proposals.

The Commission aims to finalize a national consensus on nearly 20 key constitutional issues by July 31, following the completion of this dialogue phase.

The second round of talks was inaugurated on June 2 by Commission Chair and Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus. The Commission, formed on February 15, 2025, is tasked with building a unified position on critical state reforms.

During the first round, held between March 20 and May 19, the Commission consulted with 33 political parties and alliances.
