Zainul Abedin Faruk former whip of BNP on Parliament said on Friday that conspiracy is of no use, no one can stop the election in February. He said that those who opposed the independence of Bangladesh in 1971 are still opposing Bangladesh. Therefore, the nation cannot expect anything good from them.
Addressing a discussion meeting on Shaheed Zia's contribution to the development of a self-reliant Bangladesh he said, the aspiration of the people of the mass uprising with the participation of the student masses and political parties was that a fair and free acceptable election would be held in the country soon. The people will get back their right to vote, democracy and freedom of speech, but today we are seeing the opposite at different times and in different forms. The friends of fascism are conspiring to destabilize the country and sabotage the election, he referred to anonymously. Therefore, the sooner the national election is held, the better for the nation.
The discussion was held at the National Press Club VIP Lounge under the chairmanship of Humayun Kabir Bepari, President of the Jatiyatabadi Sangskritik Dal and moderated by Kalam Faizi, Vice President of the organisation on the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary of BNP.
In his speech as a special guest, BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon said, the people must be vocal against the anti-independence evil forces. Even after the independence of the country, they are still stealing the people's right to vote and democracy. He asked for apology of certain quarters to the nation for the mistake of 1971 and called on the nation to participate in the election.
Special guest Mr. Mustafa Kamal Majumdar, former editor of New Nation and currently editor of Greenwatch Dhaka, said that to make the country self-reliant, there must be a clear concept and sincerity about independence and sovereignty, which was and still is the belief of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and his party BNP. That is why it was possible to export some rice during Zia's regime, and in the first 5 years of Begum Khaleda Zia, the share of domestic resources in the development budget reached 5 to 45 percent.
