A coalition of 22 political parties, including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, NCP, and Gono Odhikar Parishad, demanded the trial of the Awami League, Jatiya Party (JaPa), and the 14-party alliance, labelling them “fascist forces,” at a meeting in Dhaka on Monday.

The meeting, held at Gono Odhikar Parishad’s central office in Bijoynagar, condemned the attack on its president, Nurul Haque Nur, and his supporters, and called for the formation of a judicial probe committee within 48 hours to arrest the perpetrators. Leaders stressed the need to strengthen unity among anti-fascist forces and announced plans to hold a solidarity rally at the Central Shaheed Minar to protest the attack.

While several parties also demanded a ban on the Jatiya Party for alleged collaboration with fascism, this demand was not included in the final resolution due to opposition from some members.

The meeting was presided over by Gono Odhikar Parishad General Secretary Md. Rashed Khan and attended by leaders from BNP, Jamaat, NCP, Islami Andolon, and Gono Odhikar Parishad. Representatives from over a dozen other parties, including NPP, JAGPA, NDM, Bangladesh Jatiya Dal, Bangladesh Labour Party, AB Party, Bhashani Janashakti Party, Samyabadi Dal, Democratic League, Gonosonghoti Andolon, Nagorik Oikya, Revolutionary Workers Party, and Gonoforum, pledged to intensify collective resistance against authoritarianism.
