“I believe the crisis created by the interim government and the National Consensus Commission will pass. The people of this country do not accept defeat, they have never been defeated, and they never will be,” he said.
The BNP leader made the remarks while addressing the 5th national council of Ganosamhati Andolon at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
Urging the interim government to resolve the ongoing issues, Fakhrul said what has happened is already done.
“Please solve these problems so that we can all move together towards the election and work for the welfare of the people. Let us move forward on that path," he said.
He also reaffirmed his party’s commitment to maintaining unity and continuing cooperation with the interim government.
“As we stood by you in the past, we will continue to do so in the future. But you yourselves must remove the obstacles you have created,” the BNP leader added.
Fakhrul said many people have expressed frustration about the current situation, but he has never lost hope — neither in his personal life nor in politics.
“Because I believe that truth and justice always triumph in the end,” he said.
The BNP leader said political parties may have different opinions and paths, but all are united for the betterment of the country.
“We must always remember that this country belongs to us, these people are ours, and by uniting them, we must defeat all conspiracies and evil designs against us. We may have different parties, views and directions, but when it comes to Bangladesh, we are always one — Bangladesh first, beyond all doubt,” he said.
Fakhrul said he had often wondered why the younger generation had been silent in the face of injustice, as he no longer saw the Dhaka University students who once stood up against wrongdoing over the last 16 years.
“But finally, in July 2024, we saw not only Dhaka University students but young people across the country take to the streets against injustice,” he said.
Fakhrul wished success to Ganosamhati Andolon’s council and expressed hope that it would further strengthen the country’s democratic movement.
Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, Bhasani Janashakti Party President Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, AB Party President Mojibur Rahman Monju, and Jatiya Dal Chairman Syed Ehsanul Huda, among others, addressed the council, with Ganosamhati Andolon Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki in the chair, reports UNB.
