Inter-district women's badminton inaugurated

Dhaka, 31 Oct- The Inter-district age-group women's badminton competition has been inaugurated at the Riya Gope Women's Sports Complex in the city's Dhanmondi area Friday.

Bangladesh Women's Sports Association (BWSA) organised the competition marking the Festival of Youth 2025.

Youth and Sports Ministry's Additional Secretary Md Selim Fakir is expected to open the meet as the chief guest while Bangladesh Badminton Federation treasurer Md Rois Uddin was present as special guest.

BWSA president Barrister Sarowat Siraj Shukla, its general secretary Engineer Firoza Karim Neli and members of the BWSA were also present in the opening ceremony. 
 
A total of 120 players, divided into two groups, from 24 districts are participating in the competition which is being held in the Under-14 (7-14 
years) junior group and Under-19 (14-19 years) senior group. 

The participating districts are Tangail, Manikganj, Shariatpur, Madaripur, Bangladesh Women's Sports Association (from Dhaka district), Navy College, Dhaka Cantonment (Dhaka district), Mymensingh, Jashore, Khulna, Bagerhat, Cumilla, Feni, Chattogram, Chandpur, Bogura, Brahmanbaria, Khagrachhari, Lalmonirhat, Sirajganj, Barguna, Presidency International School (Chattogram), Gaibandha, Gopalganj and Pabna districts.

Kazi Nazrul Islam, executive director of the National Sports Council, will be present as the chief guest in the closing ceremony to be held Saturday.
