BNP’s nominated candidate for Pirojpur-2 (Nesarabad, Kawkhali, Bhandaria) constituency, Ahammad Sohel Monzoor, has said that the people of Bangladesh share one identity—Bangladeshi—and that the term “minority” has no place in the nation’s social fabric.

Speaking at a discussion meeting with leaders of the Upazila and Municipality Temple Committees at the BNP office adjacent to Swarupkathi Municipality on Tuesday at 11 a.m., he highlighted that every major movement in the country—from the 1952 Language Movement and the 1971 Liberation War to the 1990 anti-autocracy movement and the 2024 mass uprising—was led by people of all religions and communities united against injustice. “In every struggle, the oppressed people have triumphed,” he added.

Suman, son of late minister and Freedom Fighter Mohammad Nurul Islam Monzoor, said his family entered politics out of patriotic responsibility. “We believe in the non-communal spirit of the Liberation War. Nationalism is the strongest expression of patriotism,” he said. He urged people of all faiths to unite and support the BNP to ensure the victory of democracy under the leadership of Khaleda Zia and to help Tarique Rahman build a prosperous and well-governed Bangladesh.

Leaders of the Hindu community present at the meeting expressed their commitment to working for the BNP in the upcoming national election.

The discussion was presided over by Swarupkathi Temple Committee President Utpal Samaddar. Among others, former mayor and BNP leader Shafiqul Islam Farid, Municipal BNP President Kazi Kamal Hossain, and General Secretary Mainul Islam also spoke. The session was conducted by Temple Committee General Secretary Manik Lal Dutta.
