BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to begin a four-day tour of the country’s northern districts from January 11 to 14, according to a party announcement.

The schedule was released on Wednesday through a press statement signed by ABM Abdus Sattar, personal secretary to the BNP Acting Chairman. The party said all activities during the tour will strictly comply with the Election Commission’s code of conduct, and necessary permissions have been sought from the commission and local administrations.

During the tour, Tarique Rahman will visit Tangail, Sirajganj, Bogura, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram.

On January 11, after completing engagements in Dhaka, he will hold meetings with party leaders and activists in Gazipur, Tangail and Sirajganj before travelling to Bogura.

On January 12, starting from Bogura, he will attend organisational programmes in Rangpur, Dinajpur and Thakurgaon. In Rangpur, he is also scheduled to pay tribute and offer prayers at the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, who was killed during the July–August mass uprising.

On January 13, Tarique Rahman will meet party leaders and activists in Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram.

The tour will conclude on January 14 with further programmes in Rangpur and Bogura before his return to Dhaka.

As part of the visit, the BNP leader will also visit the graves of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, Shaheed Abu Sayeed, Taiba Majumder and other martyrs of the July movement, and pay courtesy visits to their families.
