BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Sunday said some political parties were attempting to deceive the country’s people, though he did not name any group.

Speaking at an election rally in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla on Sunday night, Tarique said the BNP had prepared clear plans for the people and would implement them if voted to power. He said he had repeatedly outlined those plans over the past two days to ensure voters understood the party’s intentions.

“There are parties that want to mislead the people,” he said. “But what is the benefit of deceiving them? At the end of the day, politics must answer to the people of this country.”

Tarique said the BNP had governed the country several times in the past and had gained experience in running the state. “That experience is why the BNP knows how to turn plans into action,” he added.

Earlier in the day, the BNP chief addressed election rallies in Chattogram and Feni. He is scheduled to speak at another rally in Narayanganj on his return to Dhaka.
