Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed today said the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) will be centre for discussion of all the issues to transform Bangladesh into a powerful democratic country.

“All the issues will be discussed in the parliament. It will be the centre of every sort of discussions,” he said while speaking to journalists after coming out of the maiden session of the 13th parliament at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here.

The senior BNP leader said they want to continue such a democratic culture which makes Bangladesh democratically powerful.

“We want to turn Bangladesh into a democratically powerful country with continuing the exercise of the democratic culture where the country and the constitution will be reformed democratically,” he said.

He hoped that they will be able to build a fascist-free Bangladesh through continued exercise of democracy as per the expectations of the martyrs of Liberation War of 1971 and July Mass Uprising of 2024 and the people as well, reports UNB.

Replying to a question about the walkout of Jamaat-e-Islami from the House prior to the speech of the President, he said, “They walked out following the due procedure. It is nothing new. It is not unprecedented. It’s also a democratic practice.”
