Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan today said the present government believes in absolute press freedom.

Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was the pioneer of press freedom in the country and established the media as the fourth pillar of the state, said the minister while inaugurating the office of 'Asia Post' here as the chief guest.

At the ceremony, the minister noted that the present government is treading the path set by Shaheed Zia by lifting all restrictions on the press and establishing a foundation for multidimensional democracy.

The minister added media is the mirror of the nation and journalists must play a neutral role by sharing factual information.

He urged journalists to present objective news, especially on the problems and prospects of the CHT.

Asia Post's Rangamati correspondent Md. Ziaul Haque presided over the function, reports BSS.
