Tanjim elected ATJFB president, Baten general secretary

The Aviation and Tourism Journalists’ Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB), an organization of journalists covering the aviation and tourism sectors, has formed a new executive committee for the next two years.


Tanjim Anwar, Special Correspondent of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), has been elected President, while Baten Biplob, Chief Reporter of Asian Television, has been elected General Secretary.

The election took place on Friday afternoon at the ERF Auditorium in Paltan Tower, Bijaynagar, Dhaka. Earlier in the day, the annual general meeting (AGM) was held from 10am to 1pm, where the outgoing committee presented its financial and operational reports.

National Press Club President and Kaler Kantho Editor Hasan Hafiz, along with General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan, delivered congratulatory speeches during the AGM. Voting for the election began at 2:30pm.

Other members of the newly elected committee include Rajib Ghosh, Special Correspondent of DBC, as Vice President, and Md. Shafiullah Sumon, Senior Reporter at Bangladesh Television (BTV), as Joint Secretary. Mahfuz Kamal Babu, Senior Reporter at Channel 24, has been elected Treasurer. Zulhas Kabir of Bangla Affairs and Adnan Rahman of Dhaka Post have been jointly elected as Organizing Secretaries, while Altaf Hossain of Jaijaidin has been elected Publication and Publicity Secretary, and Niamul Aziz Sadeq of NTV as Office Secretary.

The executive members of the committee are Muktadir Rashid Romeo from Bangla Outlook, Masud Rumi from Kaler Kantho, Rashidul Hasan from The Daily Star, Khalid Ahsan from BTV, and Golam Mortuza Ontu from Bdnews24.com.

The election was conducted by Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor of Bangladesh Monitor. He was assisted by election commission members Niladri Maharatna and Sohel Hossain Patwary, reports UNB.
